With great sadness, I have to  share the news that Judy Jaskulski died suddenly at her home on Sunday July 26.  Judy served Peace Lutheran as an organist and accompanist for over 40 years.  She was an integral part of our church family and our weekly worship.  Please keep her family in prayer.  I’ll let the congregation know about funeral arrangements as those plans are made.   If you would like to send a card to her daughter Jodi, here’s the address:

Drive Thru Communion
From 10am-12pm, you may drive to the church and pull onto Lutheran Lane at the OFFICE DOOR. Please don’t park “in” the spaces, but rather line up one behind another starting at the handicap spaces between the church and parsonage.  Please only line up on top of the space and do not block the street.   Put your mask on, roll down the windows, and stay in your car.  Pastor will move from one car to another, offering a communion prayer and then she will hand the driver a zip lock baggie with the appropriate number of wafers in it.  She will step back from the car so that you may take down your mask and consume the wafer, and then offer a benediction.

Blessings on your Sunday,

Pastor Erin Evans

Dear Members,

Once again, our council members have unanimously agreed that refraining from public in-person worship right now is the safest for our community.  The situation seems to change weekly, and the steady increase of cases in our county seems to have no end. This may seem like the natural course of action to many of you.  But to others who long for some normalcy, you may feel angry at what you perceive as things being taken away from you.  I’m sorry.  I pray that things will be different soon.

In the meantime, and in ALL times of calm, crisis, or confusion for the Church, we remain the body of Christ.  Certainly, virtual community has its limitations compared to “real” community, and yet it does serve to connect us, teach us, and encourage us.  We pray together, sing together and hear the word together – all while apart.  BUt I’d encourage you to join us this week for our Zoom BIble Study.  It has been a wonderful way to both hear the good news of the Gospel and the news from other parishioners as we catch up.  Whether on an easy video chat, or just calling in with your phone to the conference call, you are welcome to join us!

But even as we have been regularly hearing the word and participating in the liturgy, we have not been regularly receiving the sacrament.  This spiritual food, for us – this body and blood of Christ meant to strengthen and nourish us – we have abstained from.  Certainly Christ’s presence and forgiveness is not limited to Holy Communion, but our common weekly practice is meaningful and empowering to the Church.  In light of all these realities, THIS SUNDAY I will offer “Drive-Up” Communion at Peace!

p.s. For those who were worried, all our covid-19 tests were negative and we no longer have to quarantine.

CONGREGATIONAL MEETING
Stay tuned for any updates about the Annual Meeting to be held July 26th.  We will have annual reports for 2019, and an election of Vice President and Treasurer.   The current officers are willing to take another term and we have no other volunteers.  The office of President is also still vacant, which requires an appointment from council, unless a member wishes to be nominated and elected president on the 26th meeting.   Please speak to a member of council if you have a desire to serve.

The Fifth Sunday After Pentecost

Pastor Erin and the Council will be in touch about what’s next, as we watch the news and hear the results of mandated restrictions in our area, meant to slow the spread of the virus.
